Prepare: Read Module 4 and the Week Two Instructor Guidance. In Module 4 of your primary text, you read about the different ways in which blogs and social media can be used to enhance your personal, professional, and academic life. While the internet can be a wonderful tool, it is also important to be aware of privacy concerns. Module 4 discussed different ways to maintain your privacy while online, and particularly while using blogs and social media.
Reflect: Think about the benefits of using blogs and social media, as well as the different things you can do to maintain your privacy online.
Write: For this discussion, you will describe a social media experience and review current information about digital privacy. Answer the following:
• Describe two ways that social media has enhanced or could enhance your academic, personal and/or professional life.
• Describe a positive or a negative experience you or someone else you know has had with social media. What lessons did you learn from the experience?
• Browse major news websites and find one article about privacy in social media. In your own words, briefly summarize the article and identify its source. What did you learn from it?
Your initial post should be at least 250 words in length.
Respond to peers: Review your classmates posts, and respond to at least two of your peers by Day 7. Compare and contrast their experiences using social media with yours. Offer additional strategies to ensure privacy online, and/or discuss strategies that they shared that you can apply to your own life. Each peer response should be at least 75 words in length.
