Prepare: Read Chapter 1 of Writing for the Mass Media. Chapter 1 of our text tells us that, Writers for the mass media must understand the implications of what they do. Part of the writing process is developing a sense of what it means to communicate with a mass audience (Stovall 2).
Reflect: Why must writing for a mass audience be different? What techniques are required when writing for the mass media?
Write: Write a 250- to 300-word response that discusses how writing for a mass audience differs from writing for a smaller audience such as a letter to a friend or an essay for a class. Explain your view giving examples from a recent news article you located from the Associated Press. In your initial post, you must include at least one in-text citation from the reading material and an additional in-text citation from a scholarly source that you locate. At the end of your post, include your name and a full reference for all sources cited in the body of your post. All citaitons and references must adhere to APA style guidelines as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

Respond to Peers: After you have written your initial post, read the posts of your peers and respond to at least two others about their take on how writing for a mass audience differs from writing for a smaller audience. Your responses should address them by name, be between 100 and 150 words in length, and you must include your name at the end of each response.
