WEEK 4 DISCUSSION 1/DQ 1 INTRODUCING ((LATEST))

WEEK 4 DISCUSSION 1/DQ 1 INTRODUCING ((LATEST))
Week 4 Discussion 1/dq 1 Introducing ((latest))
This discussion assesses your ability to clarify the role of each legally mandated attendee on the Individualized Education Program team. This assessment also supports your achievement of Course Learning Outcome 2 and 4 and the MASE Program Learning Outcome 4, 6, and 8.
You and Mr. Franklin arrive early for Destinis annual IEP meeting. Mr. Franklin is a little nervous since this is his first meeting and he is not sure what to expect. You let him know that the IEP team is composed of individuals who are invested in Destinis social and academic success. These participants include, but may not limited to, her parents, the special educator, the general educator, and Destini. (Stansberry,2015). In addition, someone who is qualified to provide or supervise the delivery of special education and knowledgeable about general education, the school systems resources, and evaluation procedures must be in attendance (Osborne & Russo, 2014, p. 124). Often, this representative can be the school administrator or school psychologist.
After this explanation, you show Mr. Franklin the four and a half minute video, The IEP Team Process: Chapter 2- The IEP Team, explain the role and academic and/or social interest of each person who will attend the Destinis IEP meeting, specific to her disability and instructional needs. Mr. Franklin stated he was feeling a little more confident, however needed a little more clarification on the procedures of the IEP team meeting. Since time was still remaining before the meeting was scheduled to begin, together you reviewed the seven minute video, The IEP Team Process: Chapter 3 - What's Included in the IEP.
To prepare for this discussion, review the Screencast-o-matic Quick Start Guide on how to create a webcam video.
Initial Post: Create a 2-3 minute webcam video using Screencast-o-matic or another software of your choice. Introduce the required team meeting attendees to Destinis parents as an opening introduction to her IEP meeting. Assume the role of the special educator. Explain each of the mandated academic professionals in attendance, their role in the meeting, and their specific interest in Destini, who has a Specific Learning Disability that causes her to struggle with reading. Be sure to include the link to your video post so that it is accessible to all.
Guided Response: Review the video links and posts of your classmates and your Instructor. Assume the role of Destinis parents in order to respond in writing to at least two peers, asking at least three probing questions for one of the members introduced in the meeting to set a strong foundation for her Individualized Education Program. Be sure to choose two different video posts, in which to respond which depict distinctive participant roles.
Though two replies are the basic expectation, for deeper engagement and application of the material, you are encouraged to provide responses to any written comments or questions others have made (including your Instructor) before the last day of the discussion period. This will extend the conversation while providing opportunities to demonstrate your content expertise, critical thinking, and real work experiences with this topic.

Carefully review the Grading Rubric for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your discussion.
